Alaska Wild Berries Quilt

I LOVE raw edge quilt projects.  The tracing and cutting are mindless activities I can pick up when I have a couple of spare minutes now and then.  Raw edge projects come together quickly, satisfying that need for immediate gratification.

One of my very favorite raw edge pattern artists is Dana Verrengia.  She specializes in Alaska designs.  You can see here work HERE.

I used the berry patterns in this book to put together a 5 block wall hanging.

   Blueberries
 Cranberries
 Watermelon Berries
 Raspberries
 Salmonberries
The sides and corners

  1. Just had to click on your link at the Sew Cute Tuesday party. Your berry blocks are just so pretty. I don't think I've ever heard of salmonberries or watermelon berries before.I love how the appliqué is framed by the blue segments. I'm very new to appliqué so I like to see examples of all sorts of designs.

    1. Raw edge appliqué is really fun because you just trace onto fusible web, iron and cut. Good luck with your appliqué projects and thank you for stopping by.

  7. I love your quilt! I'm going to have to track down that pattern. Seeing all those berries makes me homesick. I'm heading to Juneau next week though. Thanks for the reminder that all this prep is so going to be worth it!

    1. You must be from Alaska Chiska. I'm glad you are getting back next week. Both of the fabric stores in Juneau should have this book of patterns. Have fun in Juneau! Bring good weather;)

    2. Me too! I'm bringing my family up for the first time and we get to hang out with my brothers and my folks. I'll definitely check out the fabric stores for that book. Thanks! We'll try and bring good weather, though I confess to hoping for a little rain. :)

  9. Very beautifully stitched appliqués! The blue fabric you chose is quite different from the original pattern but the result is equally beautiful. The blue circles make yours a stunning quilt.
