OMG November

I know Easter isn't for Months, but it's good to get quilting projects finished before you want to hang them.  I found this great book Just One Charm Pack Quilts by Cheryl Brickey at Meadow Mist Designs. I love the little 5 inch squares so this is the book for me.  The quilts in this book use only 1 charm square and some yardage.  The quilts are all different sizes but all in the range of the quilt I am making which is 42.5" by 55.5"  so great for wall hangings, table toppers and babies.

I used Lady Bird by Chelsea Manning for Moda Fabrics for this quilt.

Don't you love the sweet, spring florals!

The pieces sew together quickly because they are big.  I love big.

The pieces go together quickly because they're big too.

This is the flimsy.  My goal is to have this lovely quilted by the end of November.  I have a Q20 and I'm not a confident quilter so we will see.

OMG November

This is my latest UFO, a Quilt of Valor for my son-in-law.  Joey served two tours in Afghanistan while in the Army.   I used the Jelly Girl pattern, designed by Joanna Figueroa for Fig Tree.  This pattern is made with 2.5" X 42" strips.  My goal is to finish this quilt by the end of November-at least the top.

November OMG

If you've paid any attention to my blog, you may have noticed that I have really old quilts sitting in my UFO box.  The OMG challenge has motivated me to get them out and finish them.  The latest find is a quilt I started about 8 years ago.  Kim Diehl visited our town and taught a couple of classes from her book, "Simple Traditions."  Kim Diehl has a great technique for machine appliqué so the quilt projects in her book can go pretty quickly. This UFO is a quilt I made from the book after I took the class.  I had the idea to add a lovely appliquéd border and so this top sat for a very long time while I thought about the border and then forgot about the quilt altogether.  When I pulled it out, I decided that if the quilt was going to ever be done, it just had to be quilted without a border.  If the appliqué hadn't happened for 8 years, it most likely never would.

I started the quilting about 6 months ago but this is as far as I've gotten.  You can see by the lines in the right of the quilt, I started another pattern that I didn't really like, so I tore it out.

November is a busy month so we will see if this one gets done.
