OMG October

For my October OMG, I think I will try to finish this quilt top.  It seems a shame to spend so much time cutting around all of the little templates and attempting to sew all of the points together if I'm just going to stuff this project in a bag and hide it in a pile of unfinished quilt tops.

Nearly 10 years ago, John Flynn came to our little town and taught a Storm At Sea class.  I made a lot of headway during the class and maybe even a few days after the class, but I guess I must have lost steam, and it looks like I lost interest in the home run stretch.  It's time to finish this!  Wish me luck!

  9. Ooh, it's GORGEOUS!!! I have wanted to make a Storm at Sea for such a long time. Even bought fabric for two different versions; just haven't worked my way around to it yet. So I know how that goes. Good for you, pulling it out again and making progress!

    1. Give it a go Rebecca. It takes time. I recommend John Flynn's templates because the cutting is more accurate, which really makes it easier to make those points come together. Good luck!

  12. Love your SAS. I'm planning one for a wedding quilt for my second granddaughter. I thought it a funny pun, and since she wants blue and green for colors, it would be appropriate. Thanks for sharing yours.

  15. I too have a stash "bag" filled with blue and silver batiks that I have been putting together for at least five years. You just gave me the inspiration to stop collecting and start cutting ! I hope my blocks are as beautiful as yours after all these years !

  18. How interesting to read the earlier comments and note that so many quilters want to make Storm at Sea. Count me among them. I love yours in blue. So striking. May I ask about your title - OMG October? Does OMG stand for something other than oh my goodness/God? I'm guessing it does. *wink*
