Quilt Finish

Where does the time go?  Almost exactly a year ago, actually a little more than that, I published a post about the set up of my new John Flynn Quilt Frame, using this quilt as a sample.  Find the post HERE.  I FINALLY finished the quilt, binding and all.  I have to admit, I didn't complete the quilting on the frame.  I found it to be too cumbersome and limiting.  I was a little disappointed because it was a spendy item.  I probably won't use it again.  The frame is good, and may work well for some, but it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks.  Quilting is not my favorite thing to do anyway.  I am a 'get er done" quilter.  Stippling and straight row (walking foot) quilting are my friends.  Maybe I expected the John Flynn Frame to make me a better quilter.  I don't think it works that way anymore than buying more organizing supplies makes your space more organized.  Sigh....

  1. Beautiful scrappy quilt! You should try to sell the frame to recoup some of your money...

  7. Kathi, your quilt just sparkles! The pops of yellow really bring in the light. I love the polka dot backing, too. It's frustrating when you purchase something thinking it will make a big difference and it doesn't.

  8. This is a bright & cheerful finish! Love those stars, what's the block called? And what a pity about the frame, I always thought one could make my life so much easier too, but I suspect like you, I'd find it tricky.

    1. Thank you Linda. I found the start is a magazine and I can't recall what it was. It was a long time ago. I will have to look for it.

  9. Adorable quilt - so bright and cheery! As for the quilting frame, at least you tried it, otherwise you would have never known what it was like to quilt that way.
Thanks for sharing on Midweek Makers

  11. Beautiful quilt. I agree trying to sell the frame is probably a good idea since it's not a good fit for you.
